As the internet of things comes to our homes, property developers are going to be forced into embracing new tech opportunities. In the UK a new tendering platform for construction projects is kicking off and we'll see this kind of model developing more and more. The ramp up time for projects is just too long these days and with construction documents becoming increasingly complex and lengthy, getting a standard tender pack out and agreed takes months out of a schedule.
It will be interesting to see how this model develops over the next few years - we'll even see legal jobs being tendered for projects. Let's look forward to a revolution in online contracting.
A tendering service, which will help property developers find materials and skilled construction workers and allow tradespeople and suppliers to pitch for contracts of all sizes, has been launched by three industry veterans to help accelerate the completion of building projects. Tenderspace, which was launched a fortnight ago, has started at a time when there are 10 prospective buyers for every house available in the UK. The business brings together several tools – from project management, materials sourcing and a finance checker – to help users look into the creditworthiness of potential customers. The platform will make it much easier to find resources for residential and commercial building projects, its creators claim.
