Future building sites will be operated remotely according to this fascinating article about future building technologies.  We could soon see the first 3D printed houses appearing here - a solution to the modular housing crisis maybe?

With these developments come lots of challenges.  Our own developer clients are all focussed on energy efficiency and LEED standards now.  International occupier specifications are typically much more efficiency focussed than the domestic market is used to in Ireland.  Everyone is learning quickly.  Even on the domestic construction front, it is amazing to see how BER ratings have become the stuff of dinner table conversation.  Slowly but surely a traditional industry is embracing new technology solutions.  It is demanding new skills of lawyers and advisors too - who will be giving warranties for construction standards now?  Who do you call when your 3d printer house needs repair?  All great, interesting challenges for us to grapple with.
