Good thing we weren't holding our breath on the commencement of adjudication. It appears Ged Nash has until next Wednesday 9 March to commence adjudication in Ireland. Insiders say he will do this despite some concerns over the latest draft of the Code of Practice. More on this in later blogs. Most concerning is the absence of deadlines for the completion of adjudication by adjudicators. There's a feeling of 'now or never' with the introduction of adjudication.
Prior to the dissolution of the last Dail the Minister, Ged Nash TD, was asked what the status of the Act was. He advised that the panel of adjudicators under the Act was formed and the Code of Practice was with the Attorney General and that it would be commenced soon. Given that a new government will be formed after the next election, it can only be hoped that this comes to pass.
