Pursuant to S.I. No. 344 of 2018, the 3rd of September 2018 was appointed as the day that the Intoxicating Liquor (Breweries and Distilleries) Act 2018 (the Act) came into operation.

As stated in the press release published by the Department of Justice and Equality announcing the Act's commencement, the "principal purpose of the Act is to create a new retail licence that will allow craft breweries and distilleries to sell, between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. intoxicating liquor manufactured on the premises to tourists and visitors who have participated in a guided tour of the premises. It also allows premises that obtain a relevant licence to sell intoxicating liquor produced on the premises to members of the public for consumption off the premises between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and  7.00 p.m. (12.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. on Sundays)."

The Act is examined in detail in an earlier post.  If you have any queries in respect of the Act or the Court applications required to avail of this new retail licence, contact me
